SPEED VISITATIONS!

Just like “speed networking” Lake Oswego LeTip will be having “Speed Visitations” during its meeting on February 3rd.

What’s a “Speed Visitation?”

A “Speed Visitation’ is a visitation squeezed into just 2 minutes!

What can we do in 2 minutes?

First-off, come prepared. Bring a bunch of business cards, a packet of brochures, something to show (a sample report, sample of your product, etc.).

During your allotted time, you will need to be able to give your Speed Visitation partner the tools to be able to generate tips for you. Give them the one sentence that sells your work, a few keys points that makes you different and better than your competitors, and anything else you think can help them give you tips.

At the end of the session, you’ll be asked to do the 30-second commercial of the last person “visited.”

Happy New Year Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Seminar Directors,

Hopefully we are all back, focused, and looking forward to a GREAT year ahead!

Please go to www.letip.com Its right there for all to see without any username or password needed! This could be a valuable tool for your Membership Director and/or Publicity Director or other appropriate member you determine suitable at your next Board Meeting.

If your chapter will consider utilizing the website as its newsletter or any part thereof it will certainly increase tips, increase members obtaining perfect attendance, even attract prospective members in your open categories.

Seminar Directors, Please see the calendar of events for the next NTS for communication at your weekly meetings. If helpful, use the printer friendly version to provide to newest voted in members and/or prospective members that visit your chapter. As a reminder, attending an NTS may be counted as 1 of the 2 vists required before being voted on for membership. The timing may work with the next Portland area NTS scheduled for January 26th at Club Sport in Tualitin and Salem at Creekside Golf on February 2nd.

Dear LeTip Members,

In order to assist you in acquiring guests and new members I will be creating a guidebook on “How to Invite Guests & Acquire New Members”. Additionally, I will be writing a short guide for guests that you can hand out. This will help you explain to them what is required of them as guests.

I have installed an email broadcasting system on our server and currently testing this. This system will send out weekly reminders to our mailing list. This mailing list will include ALL potential guests, previous members, previous guests and you. Furthermore, this system will bbe able to send out reminders to Power Group members about their next Power Group Meeting … AUTOMATICALLY!

YOUR JOB is to ADD ALL of your contacts – EVERY contact – to an excel sheet. First name in one column, last name in one column and email address in a third column and send this to me.

This system allows ALL recipients to manage their own subscriptions and UNSUBSCRIBE at any time automatically. I will also add an email signup form on the LO LeTip website.

Dear LeTip Members,

With business continuing to be challenging and the departure of Michele Baker I felt it was time to take a stand and set forth some guidelines regarding membership. All of which you already know (or should know) but which we seemed to forget.

1. You are REQUIRED to bring guests. IF you have not brought a guest yet, get on the horn and make a few calls and get those guests coming!

2. You are REQUIRED to acquire ONE NEW MEMBER to our chapter (or at least into LeTip) in your first year. Ifd you have not done so, see above.

3. If your guest becomes a member you receive $50.00 toward your next quarterly dues! Get 3 new members a quarter, you don’t pay dues. Get 25 members and you NEVER PAY LeTip International DUES AGAIN!

4. When guests arrive it is YOUR DUTY as a member of this chapter to INTERVIEW the guest and LEARN about their business during their first TWO VISITS! If you don’t know about their business or their ideology BEFORE you vote on them how do you know they’ll be good for our group? In fact, if all you’ve done is ask them their name and what they do how can you even say “yes” on the voting slip? Look what’s happened with our General Contractor … everyone said “Yes” and now he’s been terminated.

5. When a NEW MEMBER is voted in BECOME THEIR MENTOR! Invite them to lunch or coffee or to your office … DON’T WAIT FOR THEM! YOU know what we’re about … share that knowldedge and that experience. Don’t be lazy and wait for them to attend the National Training Seminar.

6. If you think “someone else” will bring guests or that “guests will develop on their own” you are MISTAKEN. Times are tough (if you believe the press) and people are NOT waling around wondering where they can spend $1,000! YOU have to grab them by the collar and tell them, show them what a great group of people we have and how they can make back their money.

7. IF WE DO NOT INCREASE OUR MEMBERSHIP THIS CHAPTER WILL FADE AWAY! You’ve spent a lot of time and money being a member of this chapter … do you want that to go to waste?

If you are a member of LeTip and a member of Lake Oswego LeTip you are here because YOU BELIEVE that this group will BENEFIT YOU and YOUR BUSINESS. If this is true … then TAKE ACTION! PARTICIPATE! There are two POWER GROUPS … ATTEND THEM! Their are committees that need members. We have committees needing LEADERSHIP. If you don’t think you have time … please be aware that, as President, I spend as much as 6 HOURS EACH WEEK on LeTip items (that’s NOT including the actually meetings!).

If this message has gotten your dander up, riled you up, angered you or shamed you … GOOD! Shout back. Speak up. PARTICIPATE! GROW! CREATE BUSINESS. BUILD OUR CHAPTER! BUILD YOUR CHAPTER!

We are having our first business mixer for 2008 on Friday, July 25th, 2008 at 6:30am sharp at the Eastmoreland Grill. (map forthcoming)

This business mixer will be a structured networking event with FOUR of the best LeTip chapters in the Portland Metro area … Lake Oswego, River City, Portland, and West Linn (TBD). Continental breakfast will be served. A complete agenda for the meeting will be distributed digitally a week prior to the mixer.

As always, attendance is required.

We will need 2 volunteers as GREETERS (22.5 minutes each)

There will be a chapter showboat table to promote member signups. This table will be decorated in a Patriotic theme.

We need 3 SHOWBOATERS. Showboat tables are $10.00 each. I will have a sign up sheet at the 7/8 meeting. Showboats are selected by drawing as there will be more people wanting to showboat than space available.

We need 4 RAFFLE PRIZES valued at $10.00 or more. Think of something with reciprocal value for your company.

1 person is need for a LETIP TESTIMONIAL. You’ll stand up in front of everyone and give a testimonial about how LeTip has benefited your business.

Business mixers like this one are EXTREMELY important for membership building. I know many of us joined subsequent to attending a mixer.

Your Board has developed a postcard mailing to support a membership drive. You’ll have the opportunity to follow up and mentor guests to becoming members of our chapter … and change your badge color too!

Additionally, all four chapters are splitting the cost of a series of ads in the Portland Business Journal promoting the event.
